Reach Learning Disability application for growing room at Southwell supported living accommodation approved

Plans for a growing room at an already-approved supported living accommodation have been approved.

Reach Learning Disability submitted plans to Newark and Sherwood District Council for a single-storey plant house and three air-source condensing units at Springfield Bungalow, Nottingham Road, Southwell.

It had previously been given permission for the demolition of the existing bungalow and development of 12 supported living units.

It aims to offer people with learning disabilities the chance to live independently.

Southwell Town Council objected to the alterations over concerns of the effect of the plant house on trees, but supported the air source heat pump proposal.

Newark and Sherwood District Council’s tree consultant had no concerns following an amendment to the position of a boundary fence along Nottingham Road.

Planning committee member Penny Rainbow said: “I 100% support this application. There’s been subsequent reports that addresses the concern for the welfare of the trees.”

It was unanimously approved.
