Harry, who goes to John Blow Primary School, Collingham, was named the regional finalist with his story Operation Kindness Web — a 500-word tale to this year’s theme A Chance To Change The World.

This year’s contest is judged by children’s author, television presenter and singer Alesha Dixon.

She will surprise the winner during a visit to their school on Thursday of next week with a trip to Disneyland Paris for their family and £500 worth of books for the school.

Charlotte Gater, head of curriculum at Explore Learning, said: “We started the competition to inspire the next generation of young writers and we hope that we have done exactly that, giving the next Roald Dahl, David Walliams or Alesha Dixon oodles of confidence in their creative abilities.”
