Have a say on cuts

Every household in the county is to be consulted about proposed cuts to Nottinghamshire County Council’s budget.

Councillors have agreed to carry out a public consultation on 48 of the 164 cost-cutting proposals the authority has put forward.

The council needs to make savings of £69m, £39m of which will, it says, be reinvested on the cost of children coming into the council’s care, extra social workers, and the rising number of elderly and disabled people requiring care.

Every resident will receive a feedback form in this month’s County News.

All views will be included in the consultation process, which runs until January 21.

Final decisions will be taken on the budget in February.
