Have your say on Growth Point
Newark residents are being encouraged to attend a public meeting on what is described as the only opportunity to make their views heard on the Growth Point.
The community pressure group, No to Newark Growth Point, held a photo-call today on the steps of Newark Town Hall, which is to be the venue for next Wednesday’s (March 25) meeting.
The group is calling for a town referendum so the people of Newark can decide for themselves whether up to 6,000 new homes between Grange Road and the parish of Hawton is a good idea.
More than 100 people are expected to attend the meeting that starts at 7pm.
The group believes the negative aspects of the scheme, for example the flood risks and the unprecedented growth of Newark, outweigh any positives that it may deliver such as employment and a new southern relief road.
