A public meeting will be held at the Town Hall this evening to discuss the future of Newark's healthcare.

The meeting is being organised by the MP for Newark, Mr Patrick Mercer, and will start at 6.30pm.

Representatives from NHS Nottinghamshire County, Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust are expected to attend.

About 150 people attended Mr Mercer's last public health meeting at the Town Hall in December.

This latest meeting is being held just a week before NHS Nottinghamshire County's board will decide on proposals for the future of Newark's healthcare, including the town's emergency unit.
