White Rose, which raises money for the Aegis Trust, to hold a Kilo Sale – a kilo of clothing for £10 – at its Stodman Street store on Saturday and Sunday
If you fancy getting your hands on a kilo of quality clothing for £10, then a Newark charity shop is the place to be this weekend.
White Rose’s Kilo Sale offer is traditionally very well received and the last time one was held in Newark, customers travelled from Nottingham and Lincoln for a bargain.
The next Kilo Sale is at White Rose on Stodman Street on Saturday and Sunday, or until stocks run out.
There’s also happy news from White Rose with the annoucement that the Bridge Street shop is to remain open.
100% of the profit generated by White Rose goes towards the Aegis Trust, a not-for-profit charity that works to build peace in communities at risk of genocide and mass atrocities and rebuild communities which have suffered from it in their road to healing and recovery.
Store manager Ruth Woolgar said: “Our Kilo Sales are very popular wherever they are held and the last Newark one in May was no exception with people travelling to the town from the likes of Nottingham and Lincoln.
“So as well as raising money as we are a charity shop, they also boost town centre footfall.
It has also been announced that the Bridge Street shop is to remain. It had been proposed to close it and amalgamate the stock into Stodman Street.
Stodman Street tends to be the outlet store offering promotions such as four items of clothing for £12.
Bridge Street tends to be for my high-end retail and designer clothing that has been donated.
White Rose shops are stocked entirely with donated secondhand or unwanted clothes.
Ruth, who is manager of both shops, said she was delighted the Bridge Street shop was remaining open as there was a need for both, and that it was good news for the Newark high street as it avoided another empty retail space.
