The annual Bramley Festival saw Southwell welcome thousands of visitors for a day of fruit-themed fun.

There was plenty to entertain guests at Saturday’s event including morris dancers, the Bramley Apple Man, the crowning of the fancy dress winners as well as dining and shopping opportunities.

Planning for the festival took place in just half a year due to the uncertainty of covid-19 restrictions, but the festival came to a successful fruition despite the tight schedule.

Festival chairman Roger Merryweather said: “We were very pleased with the way it was received by the public.

“There was good attendance throughout the day.”

Apples took centre stage with apple identification, apples for sale and children in apple costumes.

The Food and Drink Festival in Southwell Minster offered stalls selling fruit produce and cakes, and the cooking demonstration by Masterchef winner Laurence Henry went down a treat.

Yuri Shotton was also welcomed to the festival by the chairman.
