The annual Bramley Festival saw Southwell welcome thousands of visitors for a day of fruit-themed fun.
There was plenty to entertain guests at Saturday’s event including morris dancers, the Bramley Apple Man, the crowning of the fancy dress winners as well as dining and shopping opportunities.
Planning for the festival took place in just half a year due to the uncertainty of covid-19 restrictions, but the festival came to a successful fruition despite the tight schedule.
Festival chairman Roger Merryweather said: “We were very pleased with the way it was received by the public.
“There was good attendance throughout the day.”
Apples took centre stage with apple identification, apples for sale and children in apple costumes.
There was also Bramley displays in businesses’ windows around the town.
Mr Merryweather added: “We had apples everywhere.”
The Food and Drink Festival in Southwell Minster offered stalls selling fruit produce and cakes, and the cooking demonstration by Masterchef winner Laurence Henry went down a treat.
Yuri Shotton was also welcomed to the festival by the chairman.
She represented the link between Southwell and Japan, and the role the Bramley plays in a number of dishes there.
The festival also offered a glimpse into other aspects of the town’s history, and some traditional celebration.
King Charles I re-enactor Daniel Williams returned to the town where the King spent his last night of freedom, and there was performances by morris dancers during the day.
At the end of day Mr Merryweather crowned the winners of the fancy dress competition festival King, Queen, Prince and Princess at Southwell Library.
Mr Merryweather said: “It was just a lovely occasion.
“Some of the costumes were very very clever, it was hard to pick just two winners.”
Roo Huddleston and Nora Elmore were crowned Festival King and Queen and Cayden Westerman, Florence Groves, Harrison Lee and Nora Gomezlemasurier were crowned as Princes and Princesses.
