Highfields School took part in the Be Bright Blue event for Beaumond House Community Hospice.
Pupils were beautiful and bright in blue to raise money for a local hospice.
Highfields School in Newark took part in the Be Bright Blue event on Friday to raise money for Beaumond House Community Hospice, with all pupils coming in to school in blue clothes and accessories.
Each year in June, Beaumond House encourages people in the town to throw on blue items of clothing and decorate their homes, schools or offices in blue as part of their Be Bright Blue campaign.
Pupil Tessa Valluvassery was the driving force behind Highfields’ Be Bright Blue efforts. As the school’s charity captain for this school year, she chose Beaumond House as the school’s chosen charity for their fundraising efforts.
The pupils made posters and put them up around the school advertising the Be Bright Blue event, encouraging pupils to bring in £1 to take part by wearing blue clothes.
A loose change box was also placed in reception so that parents and the pupils could donate their change to the cause.
Overall the event raised £111.36.
Jess McGhie, form six teacher, said: “The pupils loved dressing up and we had a great day.”
Last year, the Be Bright Blue campaign raised a total of £16,000 for the hospice.
