Playhem! summer holiday activities at National Civil War Centre, Newark
Summer activities for youngsters of all ages are on offer until August 27 at the National Civil War Centre, Newark, with Playhem!
There is a wide range of tubing, pipes, cardboard boxes, where youngsters of all ages can go and build anything their minds can think of.
The idea behind the activity is to play with things people normally wouldn’t play with. There’s no glue, no sellotape— just imagination and lots of recycled materials.
“It’s all about making the most of it, use your imagination. How often do you get to just get absolutely mad with toys?” said Donna Hall, one of the organisers of Playhem.
“The funniest part about Christmas is the cardboard boxes and all the wrapping paper.”
According to Donna, sometimes it takes two or three minutes for youngsters to build something, it’s not a learnt behaviour, it’s about being comfortable, playing and discovering.
