The Save Newark Hospital Campaign will put forward its proposals for the future of the hospital at a public meeting tonight.

The chairman of the campaign, Dr Ian Campbell, will present the group's positioning document, which also sets out its reasons for challenging NHS Nottinghamshire County's Newark Healthcare Review.

The primary care trust have been invited to the meeting, which will be held at the Cardinal's Hat, Jersey Street, Newark, at 7.30pm, but will not attend.

The trust's director of communications and engagement, Mr Matt Youdale, said they had considered attending but did not feel it was appropriate because the consultation process had ended some time ago.

He said they had received the positioning document and were happy to look at it.
