Hotel plans supported

Plans to improve the Hop Pole Hotel, Ollerton, were among planning applications supported by town councillors yesterday.
Samuel Smith Old Brewery (Tadcaster) wants to form a three bedroom flat for the hotel’s manager and his family in the derelict floor above a kitchen and cocktail bar. The existing manager’s flat would be converted into two guest bedrooms.
Mrs Christine Leivers, the council clerk, said members supported the plans and welcomed the refurbishment, which they said was long overdue.
The application said the building on Main Street, a former coaching house, dated from about 1740.
