Housing money secured

An affordable housing project in Southwell will be partly paid for as part of a Government scheme.

Norwood Gardens is among the projects to receive a share of £10m provided by the Government to build 247 affordable homes in the East Midlands.

It hopes building homes will provide jobs and apprenticeships in the East Midlands construction industry.

If plans are approved by Newark and Sherwood District Council, three two-bedroom homes and four one-bedroom flats will be built on a former garage site at Norwood Gardens, which has attracted complaints about anti-social behaviour in the past.

The district council has received £322,279 from the Government towards the work.
