How does your garden grow?

Children at a Newark school opened their vegetable garden to parents on Wednesday, showcasing produce including lettuce, strawberries, potatoes and onions.

There are 18 four to six-year-olds in the gardening club at Highfields School, Newark. They do all the work, from planting seeds to picking the produce.

Parents Mrs Anne Bendy and Mrs Lindsey Robertshaw, help teacher Mrs Amanda Jones run the club.

In term-time produce is used either in the school’s kitchen or in cookery lessons. Some was sold to parents on Wednesday.
