Hundreds complete mile for Sport Relief

More than 200 people ran or walked a mile for Sport Relief at the Grove Leisure Centre, Balderton, this morning.

Participants undertook a one mile, three mile or six mile route.

Alex Nissim, 14, of London Road, Newark, crossed the finish line first after completing the mile route in six minutes and 21 seconds.

He was closely followed by Joe Mayfield, 14, of Beacon Hill, Newark, who completed the course in six minutes and 22 seconds.

The leisure centre's fitness suite manager, Mrs Felicity Garland, who organised the event said it was the most successful they had held.

She said those taking part ranged in age from toddlers to pensioners.
