Brass Explosion 2019 attracts more than 100 residents to Newark Castle
Hundreds gathered as the annual Brass Explosion took place in the grounds of Newark Castle on Sunday, marking the end of this year’s season of free band concerts.
The event started at 2pm with family entertainment, including a magician, balloon modeller, and face painter for children.
Newark Town Band opened from 3pm to 4pm, followed by Lincolnshire Hospitals Band from 4.30pm to 5.30pm, and Pleasley Colliery Welfare Band from 6pm to 7pm.
Shirebrook Miners Welfare Band followed, before Newark and Sherwood Concert Band closed the musical programme, playing between 9pm and 10pm with a stunning firework finale.
The was organised by Newark Town Council in conjunction with Liz Hobbs Group Ltd, and supported by Newark and Sherwood District Council.
