Hundreds of people joined a New Orleans-style jazz parade through the streets of Newark earlier today.

Led by Grand Marshall Sullivan Dabney, the parade began at Newark Parish Church before circling around the Market Place and onto Cartergate and Lombard Street.

It finished in the grounds of Newark Castle where the crowds sat to listen to the Nottingham Youth Jazz Orchestra perform in the bandstand.

Many of those who took part carried brightly coloured decorated umbrellas.

It was the town's third jazz parade and was organised as part of the Newark Jazz Festival, which ends tonight.
