Hundreds raised for Newark charity at women-only social evening




A social evening and fundraiser raised more than £200 for Newark Women’s Aid.

Forty women met up for the event, organised by Newark Labour Party Women’s Branch in conjunction with Town Mayor, Lisa Geary.

It was a women-only and held at Letsexcape Together café in the Buttermarket, where ticket holders and invited guests had a quiz, raffle and sandwiches or a Ploughwoman’s Lunch with cakes afterwards and a cash bar.

Newark Women’s Aid is one of the mayor’s chosen charities.

The evening raised £267.70 which included £30 raised by Miss Jean Moore, receiving donations by way of an honesty box outside her house, in exchange for her home-grown Bramley apples and a donation from Janice Rose Lingerie of £25.

Ruby the tuk-tuk from the Rosie May Foundation was there to deliver over £1,000-worth of gifts and essential items. A collection raised £100 for the Rosie May Foundation.
