Hundreds see in Christmas in Southwell
Hundreds of people attended a festive evening in Southwell last night to mark the start of the town's Christmas celebrations.
Traders in the town opened late and choirs, bands and musicians provided entertainment for shoppers.
During the celebration money was collected for Southwell youngster Iris Jaworski, 2, who has a rare form of muscular dystrophy.
Iris used a magic want to turn on the lights on Christmas Trees at the Old Theatre Deli as part of the event.
Mulled wine, chestnuts and mince pies were served and Christmas trees were sold.
Mezzo soprano Victoria Gray, a member of the young operatic group Amore and former pupil of The Minster School, Southwell, was a special guest at the event and led carol singing.
