Husband charged with murder

A 71-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Julia Thurgarland.

Peter Thurgarland, of Low Farm in the village of Maplebeck, near Southwell, is accused of murdering his wife.

Mrs Thurgarland, who was 70 years old, was found at their home at around 3.50pm on Friday December 28 2012.

A Home Office post-mortem examination revealed she died from strangulation.

Mr Thurgarland is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today.
