A gym owner has spoken of the success of his fitness classes which have proven popular among youngsters.
Jamie Brown opened his Hyrox-accredited gym JB Fitness, in January on Hawton Lane, developing his 20 years of personal training experience after his football career ended through injury.
The gym offers a wide range of fitness classes including early morning sessions to fit in around people’s working day, including Pilates, boot camp, core strength, kettle ball, weights, and cardio.

But he has seen his children’s Hyrox class, for eight to 16 year olds to be able to train like athletes in a scaled down, age appropriate class, become hugely popular.
The youngsters classes include the sled push, wall balls, rowing, running, and teamwork drills, adapted to suit the body type of youngsters.
Jamie said the key strengths of Hyrox is that it builds strength, coordination and confidence and promotes a health lifestyle, and everyone can get involved regardless of fitness:
“I want to get them off screen time and get them fit and inspire the next generation to get fitter and stronger.
“The feedback I’ve had from parents has been amazing, kids are off their devices and moving more, behaviour has improved and it’s getting kids moving more, and teaching them habits from an early age.”
