An inquest has been opened into the deaths of two school friends who died when their car hit a tree.

Jamie Ord, 21, and David Blair, 20, sustained multiple injuries when the gold Peugeot 106 left the A6075 Ollerton Road just before 6am on Sunday.

They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The inquest was opened and adjourned at Nottingham Coroner's Court today to allow the funerals for both men to take place.

A host of floral tributes, an England flag and a Manchester United and a Newcastle United football shirt mark the place where the crash happened opposite the sewage works on the A6075.

Both Jamie, of Cinder Lane, Ollerton, and David, of Lansbury Road, Edwinstowe, were former pupils of the Dukeries College, Ollerton.

Accident witnesses should contact Detective Constable Kerri Thomson on 0300 300 9999, extension 8162226 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
