Inspector praises nursery
A family-run day nursery was judged to be good in all areas in its latest Ofsted report.
According to the inspectors, White Post Day Nursery, Farnsfield, was a happy, welcoming learning environment where children’s learning and welfare was promoted.
The report praised the work of management and staff.
It said: “There is a successful, common sense of purpose and dedication between adults who work well together.
“Children are cared for by qualified and experienced staff who are knowledgeable.”
The report said the welfare needs of children were achieved as well as they could be.
It said: “Each child’s individual needs are recognised and very well supported. For example, sign language is used throughout the setting, supported by labels using text and signing pictures.
“Ongoing discussions with parents regarding each child’s specific needs support diversity and promote inclusive practice.”
According to the report, children at the nursery make strong progress and show a positive attitude to learning.
The report said: “They are happy, confident and settled in a setting that is well-equipped, safe and secure.
“The setting is rich in conversation with children supported to relate experiences and express opinions.
“Interactions are good and all children benefit from caring, warm staff. The use of encouragement and positive reinforcement contributes effectively to the children developing good social skills and a sense of belonging to a wider family group.”
The report said some activities were not monitored sufficiently to ensure they were suitable, which could have a potential impact on children’s creativity and self expression.
It said to improve further the nursery should work to support hygiene and cleanliness by providing something for children to put their food on at snack time and ensuring raised staples on displays were not a hazard.
It said the nursery should also make sure the content of wall displays were suitable to support a stimulating environment and should ensure children are able to get their own water so they can get a drink when they need one.
The nursery’s owner, Mrs Gail Stanley, said: “We are delighted to receive once again a complimentary Ofsted report.
“This is due in no small way to a strong and well motivated team of staff who are all dedicated to ensuring good care and education for all children.”
