Laxton Parish Council chairman offers his view on expression of interest from Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottingham Trent University in the Laxton Estate
The expression of interest in the Laxton Estate is good news, according to the chairman of Laxton Parish Council.
The county council has agreed to express an interest in a partnership with Nottingham Trent University.
Parish council chairman Mr Michael Manning said it was good news for the village.
“We haven’t heard back from the Crown Estate but any expression of interest will be welcomed by the town,” he said.
“It’s the last working feudal village in Europe so important that it’s protected.
“It’s great news that the county council is willing to support the estate but as always with these things we will have to see how it pans out we can’t predict what happens in the future.”
Laxton Estate is 1,900 acres of agricultural land, ten residential properties, 17 farms, a public house, visitor centre and museum buildings.
Agricultural land and associated farm houses are leased to 14 tenant farmers.
