Boyes confirms move from Appletongate, Newark to new premises on St Mark’s Place




A popular family-run national retailer is upping sticks and moving into a much larger premises in Newark, it has been confirmed.

After much speculation online, it has now been revealed today (Tuesday) that Boyes will be moving from its current location on Appletongate into the former Wilko’s store on St Mark’s Place.

The business, which runs over 70 stores throughout Yorkshire, the North East, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire & Leicestershire, will be taking over the entire ground and first floor of the unit which is between 10,000 and 16,000sqm, and the clothing and DIY offering will be expanded in the move.

Spokesman Richard Boyes confirmed that the store will be refurbished, with the aim of reopening on Friday June 20.

“We’re hoping that the move will lift the area up, and it’s a good statement that we’re here to stay,” he said, “We do very well in Newark and want to offer our full range of products.”

“It’s a much bigger footprint so we’ll be able to extend our services so it will be better for us and for the people of Newark.”
