Beauty By Jade, at Belvoir Road, Balderton, offers Newark area’s first Japanese head spa treatment

A beauty business has launched the Newark area’s first Japanese head spa experience, which has proven to be very popular.

Jade Cook, the owner of Beauty By Jade, is capitalising on a viral social media trend to offer customers something new for 2025 at her business in Belvoir Road, Balderton.

Jade was a support worker but once she had her son she wanted greater flexibility and, in 2014, started her own business from home.

The business offers Japanese head spa, acrylic nails, BIAB, gel polish, pedicure, HD Henna and laminated brows, LVL lash lift, dermaplaning, microneedling and other facials.

The business owner said: “I wanted to train in something new ready to launch in 2025, so I thought about going down the aesthetics route, doing lip filler and botox. However, having thought about it, I realised plenty of people already offer that.

“Meanwhile, I had noticed the Japanese head spa going viral on TikTok and thought we don’t have one of those in Newark and that’s when I decided that’s what I wanted to do.”

The Japanese head spa is a treatment that uses a variety of techniques to improve the health of hair and scalp.

It involves a massage, exfoliation, steaming and the use of nourishing products and specific massage tools.

The treatment is set to improve blood circulation, promote growth, address scalp issues such as dandruff and psoriasis, reduce anxiety and stress and improve sleep.

“Everyone should try a Japanese head spa once this goes for men too,” said Jade.

She added: “Even if you don’t have any scalp concerns, this treatment is still amazing for relaxation and promoting healthy hair.”
