Shoplifting, driving offences, drunk and disorderly – all cases before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court




A regular shoplifter has been jailed for re-offending while on a community order.

Paul Richens, 39, of Portland Street, Newark, re-offended while subject to a community order imposed for four counts of shoplifting from such outlets as TK Maxx and Iceland and possession of Class A cocaine.

Richen’s order was revoked at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court and he was sentenced to a total of 12 weeks behind bars.

A 19-year-old woman was conditionally discharged for drunk and disorderly behaviour at Nottingham Train Station.

Kizzy Smith, of Cliff Lane, Marston, admitted the offence and was conditionally discharged for six months by magistrates who also ordered she pay £111 costs.

A teenage motorist was awarded six penalty points after admitting to driving without due care and attention.

Volkswagen driver Elliott Bramley, 19, of Main Road, Hawksworth, committed the offence on Longhedge Lane at Sibthorpe.

He was also fined £107 and told to pay £133 in costs.

An off-road motorcycle rider whose bike did not have a registration plate to be on the road was fined £240 and given six penalty points.

Declan Penley, 20, of Hoe View Road, Cropwell Bishop, had denied a charge of having an unregistered bike and no insurance on The Fosse at Cotgrave, but changed his plea to guilty.

Penley was also told to pay £119 in costs.

A driver has been banned from the roads for six months due to his repeat offending.

Ford driver Mark Smith, of Brickyard Lane, Farnsfield, pleaded guilty to speeding in a 30mph zone and had five penalty points added to his licence on top of the ban.

The 57-year-old was also fined £200 and must pay £170 in costs.

A speeding motorist avoided a totting-up ban thanks to the mitigation put to the court.

James Robinson had been due a ban based on the three additional points that were to be added the number he had already accrued.

Robinson, 30, of Savile Road, Bilsthorpe, was caught speeding in a 30mph zone.

However, magistrates stepped back from a totting ban on the exceptional hardship a ban would cause his family.

Robinson was fined £141 and was told to pay £146 costs.
