Newark Town Football Club to launch Easter Egg hunt on new Sconce and Devon Park Orientation route
Newark Town Football Club will be the first group to use the recently installed permanent Orienteering course at Sconce and Devon Park where they will conduct an Easter egg hunt.
The event will take place on Saturday, March 25 from 1pm.
The GXO-sponsored event which will be supported by both the Newark and Sherwood Council and Active4Today hopes to raise funds for the football club.
It will also introduce the community to the exciting orientation route which traverses around the whole of Sconce and Devon Park.
Kelly Evans, head of Community & Partnerships for Active4Today said: "The course is one of three across the district funded by Newark and Sherwood District Council and Active4Today.
"Nottinghamshire Orienteering Club (NOC) Volunteers have been working hard to get them all open with the support of partners at Forestry England and our dedicated Park Rangers.
"A fourth course for schools will also be installed at Sconce and Devon Park in the summer.
"There will soon be an information board put up in the park, so anyone can scan the QR code, access the map and complete the course, completely free of charge.
"For those without a smartphone, course maps can be printed from the website, and will be available at the park rangers office shortly.
"We are really pleased to be supporting NOC to implement these courses and would like to say a huge thank you to Vic and the team of volunteers for all of their hard work as it enables us to support our communities to be more active, more often.
"I am really pleased that Newark Town Football Club have chosen to use the new Newark course for their Egg Hunt, it's a fantastic way to kick-start usage of the course".
Organisers from the club, Carla Brown and Lyndsey Cummings spoke about the Easter egg hunt.
"Clues will be placed at the 21 markers around the park and it will take around an hour to complete, giving everyone time to explore the whole park and enjoy the beautiful surroundings," said Cummings.
"Once the clues have been collected the hunters can return to the Tom Mann Pavilion to collect their prize, one of 200 Easter Eggs kindly donated by GXO Logistics, a proud supporter of the club.
Carla Brown added:
"We are very lucky to be located in such a lovely park, and we want to share this amazing space with the wider community.
"The trail is open to everyone and tickets are £2 each.
"These are available from the pavilion or by messaging through the Newark Town Facebook page or event.
"We would like people to pre-book, so we don't have any disappointed children on the day, and it helps us to plan the other attractions including the tombola, cake stall, BBQ and refreshments, and of course parking around the site".
