Nottinghamshire Police is investigating a large-scale industrial waste fire put out by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service at Newark Northgate




An investigation is underway following a large-scale fire in Newark Northgate.

The industrial waste fire was first reported to emergency service around 2.35pm on Saturday, November 11.

Around 200 tonnes of recycled plastic were burnt on the fire.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service crews were in attendance with six fire engines, the welfare unit and the command unit.

Detective constable Robert McGhee, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “A police investigation is underway following a large-scale fire at a compound in Lincoln Road, Newark.

“Nobody was injured in the incident, which was reported to the emergency services at around 2.35pm on Saturday (11 November).

“The industrial fire was put out a few hours later, after destroying large quantities of plastic, and damaging plant equipment.”

Inquires are still ongoing to establish the cause of the fire, however the police don’t believe foul play to have been involved.

It is asked to anyone with any information that could assist the police to call 101, quoting incident 365 of 11 November 2023, or report it anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
