Collingham Fire Station attend incident in Tuxford after large tree catches fire
Firefighters from Collingham Fire Station were called into action in the early hours of the morning after a tree in Tuxford set alight.
The incident took place near the A1 at 3.25am this morning (Wednesday, April 10).
Police closed the north bound carriageway while firefighters extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet.
A spokesperson from Collingham Fire Station said: "As we are fast approaching summer, please take care when out and about.
"There has been very little rain recently which is allowing open areas of grass and undergrowth to become extremely dry, and making them susceptible to catching fire."
The incident followed a community safety event in Collingham, which both police and firefighters attended.
"We were invited to help support police trainer Stella Herbert with a basic first aid course given to the Collingham Village Care group," said a spokesperson from Collingham Fire Station.
"The group learnt how to deal with conscious and unconscious casualties, recovery position, CPR and the use of an AED (automated external defibrillator)."
Collingham Village Care are a patient transport scheme run by volunteers for people who may have difficulty accessing transport for medical appointments amongst other things.
