Southwell's annual late-night Christmas shopping experience it back among other festive activities
Southwell’s annual festive shopping experience is back as part of a range of activities in the build up to Christmas.
Southwell Town Council’s Christmas late night shopping event will be held on Thursday next week from 5pm.
The town’s independent shops will be open until 8pm, giving a perfect opportunity to buy gifts.
A Christmas Market will also be held in the market square, and there will be festive food and drink.
Pupils from Lowe’s Wong and Holy Trinity schools will sing carols in the Admiral Rodney courtyard.
Shop windows will be decorated for an advent window trail to entertain the whole family.
Southwell has plenty on offer for the festive season.
Children aged five and upwards can take part in willow lantern-making workshops this Saturday, 10am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 3.30pm, held at The Old Courthouse, The Burgage, in readiness for The Lantern Walk that takes place on Saturday, December 4, at 5pm.

A mini lantern-making session takes place earlier on the day of of the parade from 10am to noon at Southwell Library and is aimed at children aged four to nine. It’s £2 and you can book by calling 01636 812148.
A Christingle Trail takes place on Saturday, December 4, and Sunday, December 5, 10am to 4pm.
Southwell Minster will provide a guide to activities for children at the north porch for the trail around the minster grounds.
Children can then take home all the things to make their own Christingle with them and return with it for a child-friendly Christingle Service on Sunday December 5, at 5pm, at Southwell Minster.
Dickens’ Christmas Voices by Southwell Theatre Group — takes place on Thursday, December 9, and Friday, December 10, at 7.30pm at Southwell Library. Tickets £9 via 01636 812148 .
Southwell Racecourse is hosting seven Christmas race meetings in December and racing on New Year’s Day.
Messiah presented by Southwell Minster Choir Association is Tuesday, December 14, at 7.30pm at Southwell Minster.
Santa in Southwell is on Saturday December 18, 8.30am to 1pm when Father Christmas will be at The Admiral Rodney on King Street in his sleigh, in an event organised by Southwell and District Lions Club.
