Farndon nine-year olds organise lemonade fundraiser for Beaumond House
Four friends sold 22 litres of lemonade for charity while taking part in the Young Leaders Award at school.
The pupils at St Peter’s Cross Keys Academy in Farndon raised £137 for Beaumond House in the two-hour period they had a stall in Westfield Way.
Kieran Lowe, Noah Pattison, Noah James and Matthew Oldbury made 24 litres of lemonade and sold around 22 litres.
“They like lemonade and thought that it would be a good idea to sell it, plus the weather was going to be so hot that a cold drink made sense,” said Jessica Lowe, Kieran’s mother.
“Their other option was to sell cake but with the heat it would have melted.”
The pupils were only expecting to raise £15 or £20 with the sale, however, they were pleasantly shocked with their total.
The friends also did local home deliveries to a few elderly customers.
They also took lemonade bottles to the Farndon Cricket Club as the team was playing at home on the day.
All the money raised on the day will be donated to Beaumond Hospice Care.
The Young Leaders Award, an award developed by The Archbishop of York Youth Trust, is a school-based programme.
The aim of the award is to teach leadership skills and for youngsters to engage in the community and serve others.
