Library reopening to go with a bang
Southwell Library will hold its first event today since reopening after improvement work.
The library was closed for two weeks while self-service equipment was installed and the shelves reorganised.
It hosts the play, How To Build A Rocket, today, which includes the launching of a rocket from the library carpark.
Library manager Mrs Nicola Ellis said staff were working with the public to teach them how to use the new machines.
She said: “People think we have lost staff but we are all here and there have been no cuts. The changes have just freed up staff so we can be more proactive in the community.
“One of the things we do is one-to-one IT training. People can spend one hour with staff at a computer so anyone interested in learning or is struggling can come in.”
