North Muskham man raises over £5,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust with London Marathon run

After two years of delays a man has run the London Marathon for charity — raising over £5,000 with his efforts.

Dave Brumpton, of North Muskham, ran the marathon for the Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity which supported his son, Daniel, through his treatment for chronic myeloid leukaemia.

Dave initially planned to run in 2020, however the pandemic and an injury left him unable to take part for two years.

It was third time lucky, as he crossed the finish line in 4 hours and 17 minutes.

He said: “It is absolutely great to have finally done it. It was a really great day and there was brilliant support all round the course.

“When I got over the line it was very emotional.

“At the time I swore never to do another one, but I think I would.”

Over the two year period, Dave raised £5,500 for the charity, holding charity football matches and quiz nights in his home village as he hoped to give something back to the charity which helped his family.

Dave added: “The support from the football teams, people at work and the quiz was amazing.”
