Beaumond House Hospice Care officially opens new charity shop in Southwell
A new hospice charity shop opens its doors in town today (December 12).
Beaumond House’s brand-new shop in Southwell will be officially opened at 10.30am today by it’s longest-serving volunteer, Cynthia Woolley, who will cut the ribbon.
Cynthia, who has volunteered for Beaumond House for 30 years, said: “I loved working in the previous shop and got to know many of the regular customers. I’m thrilled to be asked to open this new shop and so pleased to know we can start to raise much-needed income for our local hospice once again.
“It takes a whole team to keep the shop open and I know many of the volunteers are keen to get back to work. I encourage anyone interested in volunteering to pop along to find out more. You really will enjoy it.”
The popular and well-loved charity shop, has relocated to Westgate in Southwell, from its former home on Queen Street after it was found to need significant work to improve the building.
The closure of the Queen Street premises resulted in the hospice losing a vital source of income generated by the shop.
The new shop will be stocked with ladies, men’s, and children’s clothing, as well as bric-a-brac and Christmas cards.
Louise Sinclair, cheif executive of Beaumond House, said: “Over the years, the people of Southwell and surrounding villages have offered a huge amount of support to the hospice through the shop. Whether through volunteering or donating and buying clothing and bric-a-brac, we are so grateful for this support.
“Shop manager, Tracey Maclean, and her team are looking forward to welcoming customers, old and new on Thursday.”
