Pupils at Chuter Ede Primary School collected change and placed them in the outline of a minibus.

Pupils were encouraged to collect as much small change as they could as part of fundraising activities for a new disability-access school minibus.

Once they had collected their coins, pupils at Chuter Ede Primary School’s two sites at Balderton and Fernwood placed them on the ground to trace the outline of a minibus.

The money will be counted and put towards the total needed for the vehicle.

Each year, the school council decides on a project, and this time the minibus was chosen.

Fundraising activities have included coffee mornings, money made from the refreshments at the school production, and the Tesco tokens scheme in which shoppers can place a token in one of three charity boxes in the stores in Balderton and Ollerton.

Of those projects, one will receive the top allocation of £4,000, the next £2,000 and third place, £1,000.

A member of the school council at the Fernwood site, Abigail Hayes, 9, said she had been looking forward to putting the coins down, but didn’t want to be the one to count them all.
