Southwell and Newark top voted as the best places to live in Nottinghamshire
A luxury lifestyle magazine has been named the best places to live in Nottinghamshire.
Muddy Stilettos asked its readers to vote for the best local village, town or city to live in 2023.
Southwell won top place with Newark taking the second place among eight of the most popular towns and villages in the county.
Southwell’s minster, vibrant indie shops and variety of restaurants helped the town reach the top place.
“It’s a hot spot to relocate to thanks to fantastic local schools, fab music festivals on the doorstep with all the benefits of just a short hop from the centre of Nottingham,” said Hero Brown, founder and editor-in-chief of Muddy Stilettos.
“This reader vote gives a truly independent view on the towns and villages with the most popular postcodes, schools, restaurants and amenities.”
More than 25,000 readers voted on the different 250 selected locations from towns to villages, hamlets to commuter favourites.
The six remaining places were Beeston, Wollaton, West Bridgford, Edwinstowe, Burton Joyce and Farnsfield.
“When it comes to where to live, more than ever people want a really vibrant and tight-knit community,” said Kate Eales, head of regional agency at Strutt & Parker.
She added: “It’s a trend that deepened during the pandemic, and is likely to remain a leading factor for those looking to relocate, alongside the importance of excellent schools, commutability and local hotspots.
“When relocating, researching locations is essential to ensure people find the perfect match for their lifestyle.”
