This year’s magical pantomime at the Palace Theatre, Newark, Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs, began its run on Wednesday (Dec 12).

Presented for the first time by Paul Holman Associates, it stars Kim Hartman from ‘Allo, ‘Allo as Queen Helga, Andrew Lynford from EastEnders as Muddles and Steve Barclay as Dame Dolly Dumpling.

The show also stars Vicki Davids as Snow White, Richard Woodman as Prince Richard, Victoria McManus as The Woodland Fairy and Alex Poulter as The Fire Juggling Henchman.

The Tozer Dancers and Juveniles are heavily involved in the dance sequences.

The production is directed by Andrew Lynford, with musical direction from Matt Marks and choreography by Mitch Rumin.

There’s plenty of topical jokes, singing, dancing and audience participation, with colourful costumes in abundance.

Andrew said: “Snow White is such a favourite pantomime. It is cheeky but not rude, modern as well as traditional, and has fabulous songs, special effects and great sets and costumes.”

The pantomime tells the story of Snow White who is hated by the Queen.

Every time she consults her magic mirror she is told that Snow White is the fairest in the land.

The Queen decides to get rid of Snow White once and for all and is taken to the forest to be killed.

However the henchman does not have the heart to kill her and tells her to flee.

Deep within the forest she befriends seven little dwarfs and decides to look after them.

Meanwhile she dreams of meeting her Prince Charming one day and marrying him but when the Queen finds out she is still alive, she seeks her revenge.

A full review of the show, which runs until January 6, will be in next week’s Advertiser.
