A52 in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire remains closed following a serious police incident, detours are in place and it has been confirmed that the Independent Office for Police Conduct is leading on the incident

The police incident that has caused a major road to be closed earlier this morning (Thursday) is developing.

The A52 remains closed both ways from the Bingham turn-off to the A1 (Grantham North / Barrowby Turn Off).

Traffic has being diverted via Bingham town centre and reports are that it is moving effectively, although there is some expected congestion.

A detour has been put into operation - via the A46 Fosse Way to Newark on Trent and the A1 Foston Bypass.

A statement from Nottinghamshire Police reads: "Road closures are currently in place following a serious police incident on the A52 in Bingham.

"Please avoid the A52 Bingham Bypass, between Grantham Road and Tithby Road, which will remain closed for some time."

Nottinghamshire Police were approached directly for comment and they have confirmed that the Independent Office for Police Conduct is leading on the incident.
