Newark and Sherwood Operation Reacher assist in arrests of man and boy on drug charges after police raids
A man and boy have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply after a series of drug raids.
Two homes were searched and officers discovered large amounts of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.
The 22-year-old man and 17-year-old boy were detained and have since been released while officers continue investigating.
The warrants were carried out by the Gedling south neighbourhood policing team, assisted by Gedling response colleagues and Operation Reacher teams including Newark and Sherwood.
Officers recovered a large amount of cannabis and arrested a man after enforcing a warrant at an address on Breck Hill Road, Woodthorpe, on Sunday afternoon (February 20).
The positive result came just three days after police raided a property on Bailey Drive, Mapperley, where more cannabis, along with drug paraphernalia, were seized. A suspect was detained at the address.
Sergeant Rebecca O’Connor, of the Gedling neighbourhood policing team, said: “We will continue to be relentless in tackling illegal drug supply and take robust action if there is any suspicion of offences being committed.
“Thanks to some excellent police teamwork we have managed to seize drugs which were destined for our streets and make arrests which shows our determination to crack down on the supply of drugs which causes so much harm and misery within our communities.”
A man, 22, and boy, 17, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis. They were released under investigation while police continue with their inquiries.
Sergeant O’Connor said: “We will not tolerate drug-related criminality. Our commitment to tackling this issue includes ongoing proactive operations focused on the drugs trade and which entail high-visibility patrols, covert activity and proactive, intelligence-led targeting of key suspects, including the enforcement of search warrants wherever this is possible.
“A powerful tool in our fight against drugs is the information we receive from the community and that’s why we encourage people to talk to us regarding any concerns or suspicions they may have.
“I can assure them that we will continue to treat the information we receive in the strictest confidence and take appropriate positive action to tackle their concerns.”
