Man found dead after flat fire

A 61-year-old man was found dead at the scene of a fire at his home on Bar Gate, Newark, last night.

The man was found after fire fighters were called to a blaze which started in the kitchen of his flat above Weaver Flooring.

The fire brigade was alerted by a neighbour and attended the incident at about 10.20pm.

The only sign of an incident this morning was a police car parked outside the flats.

Sergeant Tony Gregory said the police were not yet able to name the man and did not believe the fire was suspicious.
