Children at Chuter Ede Primary School have been performing a play based on Mary Poppins.

A school production based on the original Mary Poppins film is proving a hit with parents.

Any child in years three to six at Chuter Ede Primary School’s Fernwood site who wanted to take part had the chance to get involved with Spit Spot, which premiered to parents on Tuesday.

The production was first performed to pupils on Monday. The run, which has been consecutive nights, ends tomorrow evening.

Rehearsals began in January and were held up to three times a week.

The director of Spit Spot, year three teacher Adele Lebeter said: “We had a great first night and a bit of an encore.

“The feedback has been really positive.

“Spit Spot has been a big opportunity for staff and children with the staff making props and costumes.

“It is based upon the original Mary Poppins film and a wonderful opportunity to get children involved in live theatre.”
