Mental health centre opens
A centre designed to give patients, carers and staff a say on how mental health services in Nottinghamshire can be improved opened in Ollerton on Monday.
More than 50 carers, service users and volunteers attended the opening of the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust-run Rosewood Centre, at Church Circle.
The centre, originally part of Ollerton Health Clinic, is the first of its kind to be opened by the trust outside its Nottingham headquarters.
It forms part of the Involvement scheme run by the trust and was opened in Ollerton to give people who use mental health services a place to discuss trust issues that affect them. The building was renovated and redecorated in accordance with staff and patients who will meet there.
The centre was officially opened by the trust’s chief executive, Mr Mike Cooke, who planted a rose bush.
Guests toured the centre, which includes meeting rooms and an IT suite.
They could also have their hands painted with henna, and watched demonstrations of belly dancing and Indian dancing.
