The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorms for the East Midlands.




First the sunshine, now comes the rain as the Met Office has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorms for today and tomorrow.

The yellow warning, which begins at 6pm tonight and runs until 9am tomorrow, could bring scattered thunderstorms to the region which could see power cuts and travel disruption.

The Met Office said: "There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur, and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost. There is a small chance of damage to property from lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

"There is a small chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus."

Despite the thunderstorms, temperatures are still predicted to hit 28°c tomorrow and 35°c on Thursday, before cooling down to between 20°c and 22°c over the weekend.
