The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for today (Tuesday).
Thunderstorms are expected to make their way into Newark throughout the day.
Most places are believed to stay try but there are concerns heavy showers and thunderstorms may cause some flooding and travel disruption.
The Met Office said there is a small chance homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from lightening strikes, hail or strong winds.
What else to expect:
- A small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life
- A small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads
- Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
- A slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
- Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
