Michelin star chef Michael Carr takes over The Reindeer pub at Hoveringham
A Michelin-starred chef has taken over the kitchen of a second pub in the Advertiser area.
In partnership with Sean Reddington, he was already executive chef at The Old Vol in Caythorpe (Notts).
Now, the pair have also taken over The Reindeer at Hoveringham.
Michael Carr brings more than 15 years of culinary experience to the countryside pub's kitchen.
Both kitchens will share existing employees, who will work across both sites, creating a team of 45 members.
Michael said: “My main reason for joining these two fantastic establishments is Sean.
“I wanted to be part of the big picture and building this operation up together really gets my creative juices flowing, especially with all the current talent we have in the business.
“It’s such an exciting change to be a part of, and a new challenge for me while I get accustomed to Nottingham soil! I cannot wait to get stuck in.”
The Reindeer, on Main Street, dates from the 18th century.
The menu focuses on a selection ranging from small plates to pub classics with a twist.
Chief executive Sean, who was recently a finalist in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, took over and revamped The Old Vol in December 2021.
Since hiring an award-winning team of chefs the gastropub has received food critics and awarded the coveted AA Rosette award.
He said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to bring one of the country’s best chefs to Nottingham and inject innovation and daring into its culinary scene.
“With The Old Vol’s gastro-fusion menu, The Reindeer’s pub classics and plans for a fine dining experience in the city centre soon, our vision is to offer somewhere to eat for every occasion, with the finest food and incredible service as standard.”
The duo will be opening a third location in the county, which will be a fine-dining restaurant.
It is proposed to open in Nottingham city centre in the new year.
