Military planes to take to skies over Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire in rehearsals for VE Day flypast
A large flypast of military planes is to take place in London for VE Day — with rehearsals set for the skies of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
As part of events to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day on May 5, a flypast of current and historic military planes, including the Red Arrows display team, is to take place over the capital.
Rehearsals for this are to take place on April 28, with Restriction of Flying Regulations to be put in place in skies near Newark, Lincoln, Cranwell, Spalding, and parts of Norfolk, Suffolk, and the North Sea, to allow for the large number of aircraft to rehearse.
The areas are split into three blocks, with area C incorporating skies near Newark and over Lincoln, Cranwell, and a corridor from Sleaford to Markham, passing near Spalding.
Rehearsals are due to take place in this area between 1.20pm and 2.10pm BST, the duration that flight restrictions are to be in place.
The aircraft’s route will take them overhead of RAF Marham, Norfolk and RAF Cranwell and RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire.
In the case that rehearsals cannot successfully take place on April 28, they will instead take place the following day (April 29).
