Southwell Minster welcomes donations at time when it needs help more than ever
Southwell Minster is welcoming donations at a time when it says it needs help more than ever.
People are being asked to donate to the cathedral itself or the Southwell Leaves Project following the coronavirus pandemic.
The minster said it was dependent on grants, fundraising, legacies and generous donations to support its present and future mission.
Its website said: “The repair and maintenance of the fabric and conservation of Nottinghamshire’s iconic Grade I listed medieval building is a proportion of the annual budget, but 70% of your gift will support our clergy, musicians, staff and volunteers in their work connecting the cathedral to our diocese and wider community.
“Southwell Minster is working with the Heritage Lottery Fund on a project to better understand, conserve and interpret the world-famous medieval stone carvings in the Chapter House.
“This exciting project is due for completion by the summer of 2021."
The Minster’s doors are now open every day between 11am and 3pm for visitors and private prayer.
However, numbers will be severely reduced.
