Three giant-sized kings and a 6ft Mary and Joseph were carried by school children to Southwell Minster on Monday.

The colourful models, made on a wire frame covered with tissue paper and fabric, were created by pupils from Lowe’s Wong Junior School, Southwell, and will form part of the crib scene at the minster.

Mr Mike Follen, the school’s head, said: “The children have worked really hard to create these figures and they do look very inspiring.

“The children have added jewellery and clothing to the characters.”
