Two employees from NSK Bearings, Newark, will take part in a sponsored moonlight walk tomorrow to raise money for charity.

Mrs Gail Cobb (44) of Farndon Road, Newark, and Mrs Debbie Bennett (48) of Beacon Heights, Newark, will take part in the Playtex Moonwalk to raise money for breast cancer research.

Participants walk a 26-mile route similar to that of the London Marathon. They wear decorated bras or T-shirts with a bra design. The walkers leave Hyde Park at about midnight.

Mrs Cobb said she was looking forward to the walk.

She said: “We’ve been training since January.

“When we did 20 miles in training it took us about 51/2 hours so if we keep up the pace we think we’ll complete the actual walk in 71/2.

“I’m not a sporty person so I thought this would be a bit of a challenge and also help me to get a little bit fitter.”

Mrs Cobb said she wanted to walk because it was important to support breast cancer research.

She said: “Most people know someone who has had or have had breast cancer. I’m quite lucky because I don’t, but I still think it is important to support it.”

The theme of this year’s walk is Strictly Come Dancing and Mrs Cobb said she and Mrs Bennett would be walking the route in decorated bras and tutus.
