Customers of Newark and Sherwood BP, Esso, Shell and Texaco petrol stations have £30 fuel limit
Nearly 400 BP, Esso, Shell and Texaco petrol stations have introduced a £30 fuel limit.
EG Group, which operates 367 fuel stations under the BP, Esso and Texaco brand, has imposed the limit to ensure customers have a fair chance to fill up.
Notices have been put up around the group's forecourts.
The notice states: "Due to the current unprecedented customer demand for fuel and associated supply challenges we have taken the decision to introduce a limit of £30 per customer on all of our grades of fuel. This excludes HGV drivers and emergency services.
"This is a company decision to ensure all our customers have a fair chance to refuel and to enable our sites to carry on running smoothly.
"We kindly ask everyone visiting our sites to treat our colleagues, supply chain partners and customers with respect during these very challenging times. All of EG Group's UK sites remain open and operational to serve customers."
Motorists have been encouraged not to panic buy after a lack of lorry drivers led to problems getting fuel tankers to petrol stations.
Reports suggest there is enough fuel to go around. However, panic buying has resulted in some shortages.
Queues to get into Newark area forecourts have been reported and pictured.
